Terms of Service

These are the rules for using Ossa Client, the website, Ossa+ and Ossa Mods. We kept them as plain as we could. Please read them, especially the parts about Ossa+ billing and what the app does on your computer.

The short version

  • You need to be 13 or older. If you’re under 18, a parent or guardian has to be okay with it, and only they can pay for Ossa+.
  • Ossa+ renews every month until you cancel. Cancel any time, and you keep it until the month you paid for ends.
  • Ossa Client is a fan project. It isn’t made or approved by Stress Level Zero.
  • The app changes game files and saves when you ask it to. It makes backups, but back up anything important yourself.
  • Don’t crack, share or resell Ossa Mods, and don’t share packs with stuff you don’t have the rights to.
  • Creator earnings are paid when we say, and can be held while payments settle.
  • Ossa Client comes with no warranty, and our liability is limited as far as the law allows.

The short version is here to help. The full text below is what actually applies.

01Who we are

Ossa Client is made by SuperCatCraze (“we”, “us”, “our”). These terms are an agreement between you and us about the Ossa Client desktop app, the website at bonelabcamera.com, Ossa+, and the mods that come inside the app (“Ossa Mods”, like the Ossa Camera). We call all of that “Ossa Client”.

By signing in, buying Ossa+, or using Ossa Client in any way, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use Ossa Client.

02Not official

Ossa Client is a fan-made project. It isn’t made by, affiliated with, sponsored by or approved by Stress Level Zero, the makers of BONELAB. It also isn’t affiliated with Valve, Meta, Discord, Thunderstore, mod.io, Nexus Mods, MelonLoader, Microsoft or Stripe. Their names are only used to say what Ossa Client works with, and their trademarks belong to them.

Ossa+ pays for our own work: the app, Ossa Mods and the website. It doesn’t sell BONELAB, anything from BONELAB, or anyone else’s mods. You need your own legal copy of BONELAB to use the parts of Ossa Client that touch the game.

03Who can use Ossa Client

  • You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to use Discord where you live.
  • If you’re under 18 (or under the age of adulthood where you live), you need a parent or guardian to agree to these terms with you. Only a parent or guardian can buy Ossa+ or a gift for someone under 18, and they’re responsible for that purchase.
  • Ossa Client is in closed testing. We decide who gets access and which features an account has, and we can change that at any time.

04Your account

  • You sign in with Discord. Your Ossa Client account is tied to your Discord account.
  • Keep it to yourself. Don’t share, sell or lend it, and don’t sign in as anyone else. You’re responsible for what happens on your account.
  • If you think someone else got into your account, tell us in the Ossa Client Discord or by email at [email protected] and remove Ossa Client from your Discord’s Authorized Apps.

05Ossa+

Ossa+ is a paid subscription that adds the Ossa Camera, the extra colors, more mod packs and settings sync. What’s included is described on the Ossa+ page, and it can change over time as we add, improve or retire features.

  • Price and billing. The price is shown before you pay. Payments are handled by Stripe, and we never see your card details. Prices may include or add tax depending on where you live.
  • It renews automatically. Ossa+ renews every month and charges your payment method at the start of each month until you cancel. By subscribing you allow these recurring charges.
  • Cancel any time. Use Manage billing on the Ossa+ page or in your account. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep Ossa+ until the end of the month you already paid for.
  • Refunds. Payments aren’t refunded for a month that has started or for unused time, except where the law says otherwise. If something went wrong with a charge, ask us in the Ossa Client Discord or by email at [email protected] and we’ll look at it fairly.
  • Price changes. If the price goes up, we’ll tell you before your next renewal at the new price, and you can cancel before then.
  • Failed payments. If a renewal can’t be charged, Stripe may try again. If it still fails, Ossa+ ends.
  • If we end your access. If we close your account because you broke these terms, you don’t get a refund. If we stop Ossa+ or close your account for any other reason, we’ll refund the unused part of the month you paid for.
  • When Ossa+ ends, Ossa Mods and the paid features stop working. Your app goes back to Ossa Blue. Things you made, like mod packs and settings, stay yours.
  • If you live in the EU or UK, you normally have 14 days to cancel a purchase. Because Ossa+ starts as soon as you pay, you agree that it starts straight away and that you lose that right once it has started, as far as the law allows.
  • Filing a chargeback instead of talking to us first may lead to your account being closed.

06Gifts

  • A gift is a one-time payment for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months of Ossa+. Each month is 30 days, counted from when the code is claimed. Gifts don’t renew.
  • A gift code works like cash. Anyone who has it can claim it, so only send it to the person it’s for. We can’t replace a code someone else claimed.
  • You can ask for a refund on a gift within 14 days of buying it, as long as it hasn’t been claimed. Claimed gifts can’t be refunded.
  • Gift codes can’t be resold or traded for money.

07Creator codes

Creator codes let people support a creator when they buy Ossa+.

  • For buyers: using a code doesn’t change your price. The creator can see that a sale used their code and, unless you tick “Hide my name from them”, your Discord name.
  • For creators: codes are only for creators we approve, and we can turn a code off at any time. Any share of sales we give you is up to us, including how much, when and how it’s paid. It isn’t a wage or a promise. We can change or end it at any time, and nothing is owed until we’ve both agreed on how you get paid.
  • Payouts take time, and we can hold them. Earnings are only final once the payment they came from can no longer be refunded or charged back, so we may hold earnings for at least 90 days, and longer if we’re looking into refunds, chargebacks, fraud or a broken rule. We may wait until earnings reach a minimum before paying, and pay on whatever schedule we choose. A late or held payout isn’t a breach of these terms, and no interest is owed on it.
  • Earnings from payments that are later refunded or charged back are taken back off what you’re owed, even if that makes it negative for a while.
  • Before we pay you, we may need details from you, like how to pay you and tax forms. Nothing is owed until you give them. If we end the creator program or your code, we’ll pay out final earnings that are owed under these rules, unless they came from fraud or a broken rule.
  • Creators are responsible for their own taxes. They must also tell their audience that they earn from their code, as advertising rules require.
  • Using your own code, fake accounts or any trick to earn from a code isn’t allowed and cancels any earnings.
  • Being a creator doesn’t make you our employee, partner or agent.

08Mod packs you share

You can share mod packs you make. A shared pack’s name, description, cover picture and mod list are “your content”.

  • You keep what you own in your content. You let us store it, show it, copy it into other people’s apps when they save or install it, and show it on the website, for as long as it’s shared. That permission is worldwide, free and non-exclusive. It ends when you delete the pack, except for copies other people already saved.
  • A shared pack has a public link. Anyone with it can see the pack along with your Discord name and picture, even if they aren’t signed in.
  • Only share things you have the right to share. Nothing illegal, hateful, sexual, violent in a real-world way, or harassing, no one else’s personal information, and no links to anything harmful.
  • A pack is a list of other people’s mods, not the mods themselves. The mods still come from their own sites.
  • We can review, hide, reject or remove any pack, and limit sharing, whenever we think it’s needed. We don’t have to explain every decision, and we aren’t responsible for other people’s packs.

09Ossa Mods

Ossa Mods, like the Ossa Camera, belong to us. While your account has access, we give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable permission to use them in your own copy of BONELAB, through the Ossa Client app. That’s the only permission you get. You don’t own them, and the permission ends when your access ends.

  • Ossa Mods only run when you launch the game through Ossa Client. The app checks with our website each time, and takes them back out when the game closes.
  • One account can use Ossa Mods on up to 3 computers in any 30 days.
  • We can change, update or stop an Ossa Mod at any time.

10What the app does on your computer

Ossa Client is a mod manager, so it changes files on your computer when you ask it to. Using it, you agree that it may:

  • add, move, turn off and delete mods and other files in your BONELAB folder and BONELAB’s data folder;
  • read and change BONELAB’s save data, like your avatar, BodyLog and story progress. It keeps backups of your save before it changes it;
  • change MelonLoader’s settings files;
  • move your mod folders somewhere else and leave a link behind so the game still finds them, if you ask it to;
  • download and install app updates by itself;
  • download BoneLib from its official release when the Ossa Camera needs it. BoneLib is made by other people and comes under its own license (GPL-3.0);
  • download and install Microsoft .NET 6 from Microsoft when your mods need it. Windows asks for your permission first. .NET is Microsoft’s and comes under Microsoft’s license terms, which you accept by installing it.

Bugs happen, and modding can break a game or a save. Back up anything you care about. You use Ossa Client and mods at your own risk.

11Other people’s mods and services

Mods you find or install through Ossa Client come from Thunderstore, mod.io, Nexus Mods and other places. We don’t make, check or control them, and they belong to their authors. Using them is between you, the author and the site they came from, under that site’s own rules: Thunderstore, mod.io, Nexus Mods and Discord.

A mod can do anything a program on your computer can do. Only install mods you trust.

12Rules

While using Ossa Client, don’t:

  • copy, share, re-upload or sell Ossa Mods, or take them out of the app;
  • reverse engineer, decrypt, crack or get around the checks on Ossa Mods or Ossa+, or help anyone else do it;
  • use Ossa Client to cheat, harass people, or break the rules of BONELAB, Steam, Meta, Discord, Thunderstore, mod.io or Nexus Mods;
  • attack, overload, scrape or try to break into the website, the update service or anyone’s account, or use bots to access them;
  • abuse payments, gifts or creator codes, or use stolen payment details;
  • use Ossa Client for anything illegal where you live.

13Online play and other accounts

Mods can change how BONELAB behaves online. Other games, stores and services have their own rules about mods, and it’s up to you to follow them. We aren’t responsible if another service limits, suspends or bans an account because of mods.

14Ending your access

You can stop using Ossa Client at any time, and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy). Remember to cancel Ossa+ first so you aren’t charged again.

We can suspend or close your account, take away access, or remove content at any time, especially if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect other people or Ossa Client. We can also change or stop any part of Ossa Client.

The parts of these terms that by their nature should last, like ownership, the rules on refunds, no warranty, limits on liability and disputes, keep applying after your access ends.

15No warranty

Ossa Client is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise that Ossa Client will always work, be available, be free of bugs or errors, keep your data or keep any feature. Some places don’t allow some of these exclusions, so they may not all apply to you.

16Limits on our liability

As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost saves, broken game installs, lost profits, or accounts limited or banned by other services, that come from using Ossa Client, Ossa Mods or mods installed with it, even if we were told they could happen.

As far as the law allows, our total liability for anything to do with Ossa Client is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $10 if you didn’t pay us anything.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn’t let us limit, or takes away rights you have as a consumer that can’t be taken away.

17Covering us

As far as the law allows, you agree to cover us for claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that come from content you share, from breaking these terms, or from breaking someone else’s rights while using Ossa Client.

19Disputes

If you have a problem with Ossa Client, please talk to us first in the Ossa Client Discord or by email at [email protected]. Most things can be sorted out there, and we’ll both try in good faith for 30 days before taking it further.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and of the United States, without regard to rules about conflicts of laws. Any dispute that isn’t sorted out informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you and we agree to those courts. Small claims court is always fine for claims that qualify.

If you live in a country or state whose consumer laws give you the right to use its own laws or courts, you keep that right.

20Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we’ll change the date at the top. For bigger changes, we’ll also say so in the app, on the website or in the Discord before they apply. If you keep using Ossa Client after a change, you accept the new terms. If you don’t accept them, stop using Ossa Client and cancel Ossa+.

21The rest

  • These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Ossa Client.
  • If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • If we don’t enforce part of these terms right away, we haven’t given up the right to later.
  • You can’t transfer your account or these terms to anyone else. We can transfer them if Ossa Client changes hands.

22Credits

Ossa Client is built with Electron and electron-updater (MIT License), and the website uses three.js (MIT License). It uses the Inter and Oxanium typefaces (SIL Open Font License 1.1). The Ossa Client wordmark is lettering drawn from the Nasalization typeface by Typodermic Fonts, used as a fixed graphic. Mod listings, icons and descriptions come from Thunderstore, mod.io and Nexus Mods and belong to their authors.
